Keizoku wa Chikara nari [Practice makes perfect] 1

In my view, keep on doing is one of the most important thing in life. As the old Japanese adage puts it, "Keizoku wa Chikara nari" [keeping on doing offers great advantages to us; practice makes perfect].

Tokugawa Shogunate lasted about 300 years. Japanese imperial court has been upheld, at least, 1500 years. There are companies which are more than 100-years old. These facts remind me of the selfless efforts of my forefathers. I would like to sincerely salute them.

It is importatant to clearly differentiate between two similar Japanese words: "Tsuzukeru [to carry on consciously]" and "Tsuzuku [to be continued without intention]. The words "Tsuzuku" sounds not bad, but it is grammatically transitive; it expresses a phenomenon independent of our wills. On the other hand, the word "Tsuzukeru" clearly implies our wills. It is this word "Tsuzukeru" which is mentioned in the case of the adage "Keizoku wa chikara nari."

When I started a new business, one of my friends said to me: "Be patient at least for three years. American business persons would make their judgments in one year after starting their new businesses, Jewish business persons would do it in three month after they opened theirs, but Japanese business persons should be patient for three years because the patience can be our advantages over them.　Perseverance wins in the end." I appreciated, and still appreciate his words.

JSB has just celebrated its 10th anniversary. Those first three years were tough. It was not until its 4th years that JSB earned small profit. I often talked this fable to my customers. If you want to start the parking business, you should be patient at least for three years. After three years, that is, after your three-years struggle, you will make out. I guarantee it, even gods guarantee it."

The power of keep on doing brings you money and happiness.
